Brief History of the Center
The Center for Education and Rehabilitation of the Visually Impaired was established in 1966 with the mission of expanding educational opportunities for individuals with visual impairments. The Center aims to support the holistic development—both physical and mental—of visually impaired students. To achieve this goal, it specializes in training itinerant teachers who are dedicated to serving the unique educational needs of this population.
Service Provide
- Pre-service and in-service teacher training programs focused on the education of visually impaired students
- Consultation services via phone for educators and families
- Lending of notebook computers and scanners to college students with low vision
- Publication of books and academic journals related to education for the visually impaired
- Development and distribution of tactile maps for individuals who are blind
